#OccupyLekkiTollGate: Nobody will bring Lagos down – Sanwo-Olu’s aide warns

Lekki Tollgate
Lagos State Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, has reacted to the protest scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 13, 2020, against the agreed reopening of the Lekki toll gate.

The protest was fixed following anger evoked by a ruling of the Lagos State #EndSARS Panel for the tollgate to be reopened.

The toll gate has been closed since October 2020 #EndSARS when protesters were shot at by military men. However, following a 5-4 vote by the panel, the toll gate was ordered to be returned to the Lekki Concession Company.

Displeased with the panel’s decision, some Nigerians on Twitter threatened to occupy the tollgate on Saturday in protest.

But Akosile, in response to a tweet with the hashtag #DontLetThemBringLagosDown, said “nobody will bring our dear Lagos State down! Their rights end where other people’s rights begin.”

Lagos State had witnessed the destruction of public and private properties by hoodlums in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.
