Man Arraigned For Beating Four Policemen, Tearing Their Uniforms In Ogun

One Malik Oluwatobi, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for assaulting four police officers.

The police charged Oluwatobi with assault and breach of peace.

Police prosecutor, E.O Adaraloye told the court that the 32-year-old defendant fought and tore the uniforms of Adesoye Aduratayo, Sokunbi Seun, Sodiya Ajani and Oguntoyinbo Femi.

Oluwatobi was accused of conducting himself in a manner likely to breach the peace by obstructing the policemen and engaging them in a physical fight.

Adaraloye said the offence was committed on November 6 at about 2:13 pm, under the bridge in Sango-Ota, while the officers performed their duty.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted the sum of N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum by the Magistrate, A.O Adeyemi.

Adeyemi directed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.

The case was adjourned until November 19 for further hearing.
